We're excited to welcome you back to Aggieland! Whether you are about to start your first semester at Texas A&M or your last, Howdy Week is a fun and engaging way to kick off your term.
This page has been created to help you prepare for Howdy Week. We want to ensure you are taking care of yourself and being safe while navigating all that Howdy Week has to offer.
Maximizing Your Experience
There are typically about 100 events to choose from on the Howdy Week schedule. It's important to remember that Howdy Week is not required and you are able, and encouraged, to customize your schedule.
The schedule has been designed to provide a plethora of opportunities to suit students with varying interests. Whether you're interested in gaming, running, or exploring your future career, we're positive you'll find an event that interests you.
The schedule will be posted in early August, providing plenty of time to explore what's available before you move in! Once posted, we encourage you to begin exploring the Howdy Week website or the Texas A&M mobile app. The app also has a feature where you can "Favorite" events, creating a personalized itinerary to take on the go.
We encourage you to make the most of your Howdy Week experience. Don't be afraid to go alone - you might meet somebody new!
Transportation
We recognize Texas A&M has a large campus with events occurring on Main and West campus, at the Health Science Center, and at the respective places of worship for organizations associated with the Campus Ministries Association (CMA). We also recognize that students are living all over the Bryan and College Station communities, and you might need to travel to get to events.
While we are not able to provide golf cart shuttle service between locations, Texas A&M offers many transportation options to help you get around. Check out the options below to determine which best suits your needs.
Bike Share
Texas A&M has a partnership with Veo Micromobility. This partnership provides access to over 2,000 pedal and electric bikes on campus. To use it, you'll need to download the Veo app and create an account using your Texas A&M email. Once you're ready to ride, just follow the steps on the device.
Aggie Spirit Bus
The Aggie Spirit bus runs seven on-campus and 13 off-campus bus routes throughout the year, with traditional weekday hours of 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. Check out the Texas A&M mobile app or Transportation Services website for information about arrival and departure times, live locations, and occupancy loads.
Brazos Transit District
Hours of service are from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can use your Texas A&M, Blinn, or BTD ID to travel. Further information on routes can be found at btd.org/bcs.
On Campus Parking
Using a valid Texas A&M permit, you can park in your assigned garage or lot on campus. Those with a valid permit can also take advantage of Night & Weekend Parking on weekdays from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. (4 p.m. for the West Campus Garage). Except for designated lots, no permit is required on Saturdays or Sundays. Weekday visitors should visit the parking webpage for additional information.
Staying Safe
Your health and safety are a top priority at Texas A&M and we want to ensure you are doing your part!
Hydrate
Due to the limited capacity of large indoor space, many Howdy Week events will be hosted outside. While several of these outdoor events will have water stations, we recommend carrying a refillable bottle with you. Make sure you're also hydrating before, during, and after spending extended time outside in the heat.
Indoor and Outdoor Activities
The heat and humidity is no joke in August! Wear cool, comfortable, and loose-fitting clothes, but make sure you're taking breaks in air-conditioned spaces. You'll find plenty of indoor events to enjoy while escaping the heat.
Listen to Your Body
While we want you to make the most of your Howdy Week, we want to encourage you to prioritize your well-being. Ensure you get enough sleep, eat meals regularly, and stay hydrated.
Make sure you know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Learn to recognize the signs of heat-related illness and call 9-1-1 if you're experiencing a medical emergency.
