General Events

Howdy Week General Events are events hosted by a University office, department, or recognized student organization and take place around Featured Events.

General Event proposals will be accepted through June 23, 2024.

General Event Qualifications

An event must meet the following criteria to be considered for the General Events schedule:

  • Be sponsored by a University office, department, or recognized student organization as defined by Student Activities
  • Have a space reserved prior to submitting a proposal
  • Occur at the Texas A&M University – College Station campus*
  • Be free to attend*
  • Have no alcohol sold, freely given out, or otherwise distributed

*Exemptions may be made by the Howdy Week Committee and/or New Student and Family Programs on a case-by-case basis. Exemptions should be requested by emailing New Student and Family Programs at [email protected].

Note:

  • Tabling is not considered an event and therefore will not be listed on the Howdy Week schedule of events.
Privileges of General Events

Privileges of General Events include, but are not limited to:

  • Being highlighted as a part of the comprehensive Howdy Week schedule of events on the website and Texas A&M mobile app
  • Having the opportunity to use the Howdy Week logo on marketing materials
  • Having the opportunity to purchase and distribute promo items with the Howdy Week logo
Responsibilities

Responsibilities of a General Event Coordinator include:

  • Coordinating all logistics, including space reservation and completion of necessary event forms
  • Submitting approved event details to the Howdy Week LiveWhale
  • Marketing your event to your intended audience
  • Maintaining all qualifications
  • Completing the Howdy Week Event Coordinator survey after Howdy Week has concluded

General Event Time Blocks

General Event time blocks have been created to aid you in coordinating your Howdy Week event and ensuring you are not overlapping a Featured Event by more than 30-minutes. Please review the time blocks below before starting your General Event proposal.

10:30 p.m.-12 a.m.

Friday, August 16 8-12:30 p.m.

3:30 p.m.-12 a.m.

Saturday, August 17 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

8:30 p.m.-12 a.m.

Sunday, August 18 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

3:30-7 p.m.

Monday, August 19 8-11:30 a.m.

12:30-11 p.m.

Tuesday, August 20 8 a.m.-11 p.m.
